The NWSL did a draw for the preliminary round of the NWSL Challenge Cup and released a schedule on June 1, but the league was forced into changes after Orlando Pride’s withdrawl from the tournament. Only eight teams are participating in the NWSL Challenge Cup now, but they will still play four games apiece during the tournament’s group stage, as initially planned. All eight teams will now progress to the knockout round.
