All eyes on Group F as a double header is underway for today. Sweden, Thailand, United States, and Chile all have matches against each other and here are a few things to watch for today.
First match of the day features Sweden taking on Thailand. Sweden could lock up their place in the round of 16 with a win over Thailand. They enter the match as favorites after Thailand lost to USA, 13-0. Thailand will likely come into the match wanting to showcase a bit more than they did against the United States, don’t be surprised to see them playing lower and more organized this match.
The second match is a midday battle with United States facing off against Chile. The USWNT kicked off their World Cup with a roar as they thrashed Thailand, 13-0. Although they enter this match as favorited against the lower ranked Chile, the scoreline might not look as large as it did versus Thailand. Chile’s Christiane Endler was impressive in net against Sweden, and the teams overall performance was one to build on. In earlier friendlies against Chile during 2018 ended in favorable score lines for USA at 3-0 and 4-0. Will the USWNT block out the noise surrounding their recent 13-0 win over Thailand and continue to dominate? It’s likely.
