The World Cup continues with Matchday 9! A pair of group E matches are on the schedule today as Netherlands take on Cameroon and Canada faces off against New Zealand.

The first match of the day features European Champion Netherlands against Cameroon, and the top ranked Netherlands enter the match as favorites. Despite being unable to break through New Zealand lineup during their first match, it was a late game goal that gave the Netherlands a win in group E. Cameroon will need a result to stay in the conversation of knockout round advancement for this group.

The second match will see Canada take on New Zealand. The Football Ferns conceded a late game goal in heartbreaking fashion after playing against top ranked Netherlands to open their World Cup. Despite Canada controlling much of the game during their first match against Cameroon, they managed only one goal, keeping them level with the Netherlands in the upper half of Group E. Canada’s Christine Sinclair still sitting 4 goals away on breaking the international goal scoring record, will she get closer today?

Any result, or win by Cameroon or New Zealand on this day will set up some potentially interesting scenarios for the final match for this group next week.
