Matchday 8 is upon us! After one week of games down, groups C and D continue play today in a series of three matches.

First match of the day features Japan and Scotland facing off in a group D battle, with the game being a must win for Scotland. Japan recently split points with Argentina. Scotland lost to England in their first match, and the loss has them sitting at the bottom of the group. Japan was unable to execute their game plan against a very organized Argentina for a scoreless draw, and now have to face a do or die Scotland who scored one goal in their 2-1 loss to England.

The second match of the day has Jamaica and Italy representing group C. This is a must win match for Jamaica to keep their World Cup dreams alive. After Australia’s win over Brazil yesterday, all teams in Group C have a win with the exception of Reggae Girlz. Italy heads into the match as favorites on the day after having beaten Australia in their first match last Sunday.

The third and final match of the day has England taking on Argentina. The Lionesses enter this match on top of group D after beating Scotland, and are likely viewed as favorites against Argentina. In this match, Argentina sits in second place after an impressive organized match against Japan where the teams played to a 0-0 draw last Monday. A win from England would likely advance them into knockout rounds.
